There is a particular kind of occasion a busy restaurant floor can never quite do justice to. A milestone birthday. A christening lunch with three generations at one table. A retirement everyone has travelled for. A company that wants to get its people in a room, feed them properly, and actually talk. These are the days that deserve a space of their own.
We are The Tailor’s House on Main Street in Ballygawley, a short run from Dungannon in the middle of Mid-Ulster. Alongside our restaurant, bar and six guest rooms, we keep two dedicated spaces for private events.
Two spaces, two kinds of occasion
The garden room is the natural home for family celebrations, group dinners and parties where the whole table is there to mark something — your own space away from the main floor, with our full kitchen behind it.
Upstairs, our function room holds up to 50 and is set up for meetings and corporate days, with a projector screen already in place — somewhere out of the office for a training day, planning session or client event, with lunch or dinner without moving anyone.
The food is the reason to come
The steak on your plate started at our own family butcher’s counter. Quinn’s has been our family butcher for over forty years, across three generations, and it is where our beef is dry-aged before it reaches the pass. Our dry-aged steak is grilled and served with an onion ring, garlic butter and peppercorn sauce.
For groups we run a set menu for parties of ten or more, which keeps a larger table moving smoothly. Menus and prices are put together around your occasion and sent on enquiry.
Make a night of it — rooms above the restaurant
We have six guest rooms right above the restaurant, so guests can stay the night and come down to breakfast (served Saturday and Sunday, 9–11am, £10 per person). Rooms are best booked direct.
Where we are
Ballygawley sits on the A4/A5, close to Dungannon, within easy reach of Omagh, Enniskillen and the wider Mid-Ulster area, and roughly midway between Belfast and Donegal.
